A Word from the CEO
At Betty Jean Kerr People’s Health Centers Behavioral Health Services formerly known as Amanda Luckett Murphy Hopewell Center, we understand that stigma and discrimination are long-standing issues within the mental health community. Hopewell’s new strategic direction embraces the vision of enhanced wellness and recovery as the cornerstone to eliminating stigma and discrimination that accompanies mental illness.
Our key strategic imperative is to continue to raise awareness, utilizing hard work to maintain state and local partnerships with the mental health community to realize an environment that embraces the importance of mental health as part of one’s overall well-being. Our intention is to deliver a strategy that sets out priorities for action that will promote mental health, prevent mental illness wherever possible and create positive change for all people and families affected by the full range of mental health problems and illnesses.
We envision greater integration of physical and mental wellness for all residents of St. Louis and a future where mental health labeling, stereotyping, and discrimination belong to the past. As Amanda Luckett Murphy Hopewell Center continues to evolve and expand, the need to address these issues and influence behaviors has never been more important.
Ultimately, we envision a future where people affected by mental health challenges are socially included, valued, and supported in their wellness and recovery, education, housing, employment, health care, and other needs in order to live a fulfilling and productive life.
